Deno Kazanis' educational background includes a B.S. in Physics from the University of Illinois, an M.S. in Physics from the University of Cincinnati, and a Ph.D. in Biophysics from The Pennsylvania State University. He was also a Hargitt Fellow and Research Associate at Duke University for two years.
Deno is presently employed with the State of Florida in Public Health. Previously, he was the Director of the Orlando Branch Laboratory for 7 years while teaching physics as an adjunct professor at the University of Central Florida; an associate professor at the Hillsborough Community College for 3 years; and served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Nigeria and Kenya, Africa for two years.

Deno has numerous traditional publications in western scientific journals such as the Journal of Clinical Microbiology, the Proceedings of the International Congress of Chemotherapy, the Journal of Molecular and General Genetics, and Progress in Nucleic Acid Research and Molecular Biology. He has also given presentations at various annual meetings of the American Society for Microbiology (ASM), the International Society for Chemotherapy, the International Conference on Antimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy (ICAAC), the Federation of the American Society for Experimental Biology, the American Public Health Association, the Radiation Research Society, the American Society for Photobiology, and the Biophysical Society.
