A. Andrew Gonzalez
Andrew Gonzalez is a native of San Antonio, Texas. Although his father, also an accomplished professional artist, encouraged him, Andrew says his art education was mostly self-taught. He has painted with Ernst Fuchs, "assisting him at his atelier in Monaco and working with him on a church mural project in Klagenfurt, Austria." He was awarded best in the showings in the 100 Sacred Visions exhibition at the Payerbach, Austria Old Masters - New Visions seminar.
Andrew's paintings are "created with airbrushed acrylics on panel or canvas. Forms, values and highlighting are created by lifting pigment with an abrasive eraser, followed by the application of transparent layers of pigment. A model is used for figure development." He says, "I do not consider my work fantasy art or surrealist, although influenced by romanticism and idealism my work comes closer to Transpersonal Tantric art."
